Part II

June 9, 2008 / by cantonmiller4

There is a great misunderstanding in Christendom and it has been brought about by the changing words of men. Many Christians truly believe that Jesus Christ came to man to bring peace, love and harmony to all people of the earth. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Luke 12: 51-53    "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division.

For from henceforth there shall be five in one household divided, three against two, and two againt three.

The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law."

Only a Christian can understand what Jesus is saying here because only a Christian understands the very real struggle between good and evil that is continually being waged in and around us. It is the constant struggle between good and evil, right and wrong, believer and non-believer that will cause division and only a Christian can understand Satan's role in all of this. Only a Christian understands that Jesus came to give us a way out of this troubled and evil-ridden world completely dominated by a cunning and manipulative master of evil.

Make no mistake about it. There is a very real Satan causing all the trouble in the world. Everything we need to know has been laid out for us in the New Testament if only we will see it. Our eyes begin to open up with the temptation of Jesus:

Luke 4: 5-7   "And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will give it.

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine."

Who is this devil that he can offer the world to Jesus Christ, the living Son of God?  Are we being told here that Satan is in control; that he was in control even as Jesus walked among men?

It is in these verses that Jesus begins to make us aware of the very seriousness of Satan's power and the reality of his designs on men. This brief relation of the story Christ's temptation contains some very strange and terrifying implications. Yet it is only the beginning. In John 14:30 He tells the apostles that, "Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me." Then again in John 16:11, Jesus tells of of the ruler of this world being judged. Can there be any doubt as to why this world is in such chaos and why a true and profound belief in Jesus Christ is on the wane?  How could it be any other way?

Satan is doing such a good job that mainstream churches are now beginning to preach that Satan is not real...just a biblical metaphor for the evil in the world. How perfect for the evil one.
