In Matthew 4: 18-20, it reads, "And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.
And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
And they straightway left their nets, and followed him."
In Matthew 8: 21-22 it reads, "And another of his desciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
But Jesus said unto him, Follow me: and let the dead bury their dead."
And again, in Matthew 9: 9 "And Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him."
It was a normal, uneventful day when these things occurred. One man was about to bury his father; another two men were fishing by the edge of the sea with their nets and a third man was collecting taxes.
These men would later become four of Christ's twelve apostles. Christ simply asked them to follow Him and they did. No explanation of why or even what they were going to do. They just dropped everything and left with Him.
This is very curious. Jesus Christ must have really had a presence when He walked among the people. The normal answer to His statement/order of following him would be met with, "Uh...this is my job, my livelihood. I can't leave right now." Or, in the case of the dead father, "I have to stay for the funeral. It is my father."
But they did not say anything. They just left with Jesus.
There could be lots of reasons for this. It isn't normal by any means. It isn't a human thing to do.
Think about it.
