Did Jesus Christ Laugh?

Something that's always bothered me is wondering if Jesus Christ laughed. I'll admit there was nothing to laugh about during His campaign here on earth. But still, you would think He would have time to laugh at something someone did or said in His presence.

Now I'm not talking about the kind of laugh you might emit when making a statement. Not those kind of very tiny laughs. They're hardly a laugh at all. I mean the great big belly laugh. I'm talking about the kind of laugh that will send you rolling around holding your stomach and gasping for breath. That kind of laughter. A real, down and out, laughter.

Before Jesus came on the scene, God came close to making us laugh in His very careful consideration of the Hebrews. He said many times that they were a "stiff necked" and "hard-hearted" bunch. Not really enough to make us laugh out loud, but almost.

But there is not a single account of Jesus saying or doing anything funny. I think that is sad. I frankly cannot believe it.

In His youth, which is hidden from us all, there had to have been many, many times when He laughed. If you stand there and tell me that Jesus
Christ didn't laugh at all when He was a teenager, I would call you a prefabricator. There is no way that a young boy can go through life without laughing. Absolutely no way. Even Jesus Christ.

I can see why the apostles kept it out of their writings though. They were dealing with something bigger even than life and death. There was simply no time. This was the Son of God and He was heading for death and resurrection. There were many more important things to write about.

But laughter is one of those things given to us by God. It's a shame that Jesus didn't get a chance to use it in His adult life.

You, earthly human beings, must make time for laughter and crying. They are the two most important emotions that we possess.
